HPD Officers to Meet with Apartment Managers Tomorrow

June 9, 2010 - From 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, June 10), officers from various divisions within the Houston Police Department will offer a daylong training seminar on crime prevention to managers of multi-family properties seeking to be certified in the HPD’s “Blue Star” program.

Officers from Vice, Narcotics, Computer Crimes, Identity Theft and Gang Divisions will give presentations to numerous apartment managers from around the city.

HPD is seeking to expand the impact of the Blue Star Program, which is a crime prevention partnership between law enforcement, apartment owners/ managers and residents, to reduce crime and to improve the quality of life for residents living in multi-family communities.  While a Blue Star certification cannot guarantee a crime-free community, it does indicate a shared commitment to reduce or prevent crime by management, residents and police.
