Suspects Arrested in Fatal Shooting at 2900 Alabama

June 18, 2010 - Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the death of a man at 2900 Alabama about 6:45 p.m. on January 17.     

One suspect, Jonathan Clark (b/m, DOB: 3-27-84), is charged with capital murder in the 174th State District Court.  The other, Joshua Norman (b/m, DOB: 12-2-90), is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the same court.  Both are accused in the death of Lawrence Monroe, 28, of Houston,  who suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant O.L. Chandler and Senior Police Officer R. W. Chappell reported:

A 911 call was placed regarding a male in need of medical assistance for a gunshot wound.  The caller stated that he was transporting Mr. Monroe to the hospital in his own vehicle.  The driver was persuaded to stop and wait for Houston Fire Department emergency personnel to arrive.  Paramedics arrived and transported Mr. Monroe to an area hospital.

Further investigation developed information identifying Clark and Norman as the suspects in this case, and on Thursday (June 17), both Clark and Norman were arrested and charged in this case.  The motive in the shooting was robbery.
