Investigation into Female's Death at 300 St. Charles

June 21, 2010 - Houston police are investing the death of female found at 300 St. Charles about 4 p.m. on Friday (June 18).

Raquel Mundy, 24, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy revealed that Ms. Mundy had been strangled.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W.R. Elsbury, Senior Police Officer R. Bolton and Officer J.A. Harvey reported:

Ms. Mundy was last seen on Thursday (June 17) at 1:30 a.m. when she dropped off her mother and two children at the Greyhound bus station. Shortly after she arrived at the bus station, Ms. Mundy's car was towed from a McDonald's parking lot. Ms. Mundy was given her mother's debit card to pay for the tow bill and attempted to get a ride from family members but was unable to reach anyone. Witnesses stated she was last seen getting into a grey car with a Hispanic male. Ms. Mundy later texted her mother indicating that she thought she was in danger and was with a Hispanic male.

On Friday (June 18), a homeless man found Ms. Mundy's body in a field at 300 St. Charles and called police.
