Update on Woman's Death at 3305 Jefferson

June 25, 2010 - Houston police have learned the identity of a woman found at 3305 Jefferson about 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday (June 23).

The woman, Ethel Scott McFarland, 75, of Dickinson, had no visible injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her cause of death is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant D.A. Ferguson and Senior Police Officer T.S. Tyler reported:

Ms. McFarland was found dead in the backyard of a vacant house at the above address. She was wearing night clothing and was barefoot. There were no visible signs of trauma to Ms. McFarland and the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is conducting additional testing to determine her cause of death.

Ms. McFarland was reported missing by her family on Thursday (June 24). HPD is working with the Dickinson Police Department to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
