Investigation into Shooting at 13400 Monarch

March 29, 2010 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a male at 13400 Monarch about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday (Mar. 27).

The victim, Ernesto Alonzo, 38, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C.E. Elliott and Senior Police Officer A. Mares reported:

Mr. Alonzo was seen inside a bar on Monarch Road and then later seen running outside the bar with a group of males chasing him. Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots and Alonzo was found collapsed in a nearby ditch. The suspects fled in an unknown vehicle.

The suspects are described only as unknown black males.
