Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting at 13355 Northborough

April 28, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect accused in the fatal shooting of a man at 13355 Northborough about 3:30 a.m. on July 2.

The suspect, Travis Terrell Lyons (b/m, DOB: 9-28-87), also known as “Smoke,” is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court. Lyons is currently in the Harris County Jail on an unrelated murder charge.

The victim, Kenneth Matlock, 31, of the above address, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants W. Anthony, J. Brooks and Senior Police Officers R. Chappell and M. Waters reported:

Mr. Matlock was seen leaving his apartment about 1:30 a.m. and headed to an unknown destination. At approximately 3:30 a.m., witnesses heard multiple gunshots and found Matlock on the sidewalk. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Further investigation identified Lyons as the suspect in this case and also determined he and Matlock had gotten into an argument at the Northborough location the previous afternoon. At the time of his identification as a suspect, Lyons was already in the Harris County Jail charged with capital murder in the fatal shooting of a man at 13030 Northborough about 10:50 a.m. on September 13. The shootings are not believed to be related.
