Suspect Arrested, Charged with Kidnaping and Attempted Sexual Assault of a Child
May 25, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the kidnaping and attempted sexual assault of a child in the 9300 block of Pagewood Lane on Friday (May 21).
The suspect, Al D. Checo, (H/m, DOB: 3-1-78) is charged with aggravated kidnaping and attempted aggravated sexual assault of a child in the 228th State District Court. The female victim, 7, was not injured. HPD investigators are asking for the public’s help in finding additional victims. A photo of Checo is attached to this news release.
HPD Juvenile Sex Crimes Division Officer John Colburn reported:
While walking home from school the 7 year old girl was lured into Checo’s green Dodge pickup and he drove her to his nearby apartment. After arriving at his apartment, Checo forced the child to watch pornographic images and attempted to sexually assault her. After holding her for several hours, the suspect released the child near the area where she was abducted. Checo warned the child not to tell anyone.
After arriving home, the child told her mother and was able to identify Checo.
At 2 p.m. TODAY (Tuesday, May 25), officers will be available to speak regarding this case at the Southeast Patrol Station, 8300 Mykawa (Key Map 574-C).
