Investigation into Shooting at 3514 Lydia

December 21, 2017 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man that occurred at 3514 Lydia about 11:10 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 20).

The victim, Solomon Hodges, 35, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and is in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults Unit Officers R. Watson and J. Hasley reported:

Mr. Hodges arrived home at his residence at the above address and was unable to turn off the alarm system.  As he walked into the bedroom of his residence in the dark,he ran into his girlfriend, who also resides at the residence.  His girlfriend, fearing that someone had broken into the residence and was a threat to her and her children's safety, shot Hodges one time with a pistol.  She then saw that he was not a burglar, and drove him to Ben Taub General Hospital.

Officers were called to investigate the shooting and, after hearing the facts, presented the information to the Harris County District Attorney's Office.  The DA's office declined charges at this time.  The investigation is continuing.
