Council Committees

City Hall Chambers
Houston City Council meets every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall. Tuesday session is devoted to public comment and Wednesday is for matters that require council action. All meetings are open to the public. You can also watch meetings live online.

Quality of Life
Committee Chair

Councilman Robert Gallegos serves as Chair of the Council Committee on Quality of Life. This committee considers issues related to the: Department of Neighborhoods, Parks & Recreation Department, Houston Public Library, the Houston Health Department, the Planning & Development Department, topics pertaining to Houston’s international community and cultural affairs, and other items relating to the quality of life of Houstonians.

The Quality of Life Committee meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 2 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Will review: Economic Development, Domestic and International Trade, Business and Job Creation, Aviation

Budget & Fiscal Affairs
Member
Reviews: Finance, Human Resources, Office of Business Opportunity and Fleet Management Departments, TIRZ budgets, Economic Development, and Houston Airport System items.

Ethics, Elections & Council Governance
Member
Ad Hoc Committee to Review: Chapter 18, Chapter 2 and any issues related to the conduct of local elections on an as needed basis.

Transportation, Technology & Infrastructure, member
Reviews: Information Technology, General Services, and Public Works and Engineering Departments, Rebuild Houston Streets & Drainage, and Water Resources and Conservation.
