August 22, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 15300 Eastex Freeway about 10:15 p.m. on Saturday (August 19).

The identity of the deceased male victim, 19, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Salazar and Officer R. Romo reported:

The victim was driving a silver Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck northbound on the main lanes of the freeway at the above address while a silver GMC Sierra pickup truck was approaching the Eastex Freeway exit ramp to the North Sam Houston Parkway.   When the victim attempted to take the exit ramp at the last minute, his truck struck barrels that divide the main lanes from the exit ramp.  His truck went airborne, landed on top of the GMC and then rolled over several times before landing on the exit ramp.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  The female driver of the GMC sustained broken bones and other bruises and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital.

The investigation is continuing.
