Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 2000 Gessner


December 4, 2017 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 2000 Gessner about 7:40 p.m. on Sunday (December 3).  

The suspect, Lucia Tobar, (H/f, 43), is charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault in the 232nd State District Court. 

A photo of Tobar is not available for release at this time.  

The identity of the male victim,42, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Warhol and Officer D. Jones reported:  

Tobar was driving a black Toyota Tacoma pickup truck northbound on Gessner, failed to stay in a single lane, and struck a tree in the middle median.  The front seat passenger (victim) died at the scene.  Tobar and a male rear seat passenger were transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.  Tobar was determined to be intoxicated and admitted to investigators to have been drinking earlier.  She was subsequently charged in the incident.
