Investigation into Assault on a Police Officer at 2100 Bentworth


May 8, 2017 - Houston police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect wanted for firing shots at two HPD officers at 2100 Bentworth at about 10 p.m. on Saturday (May 6).

The suspect is described only as a black male in his mid-20s.  

Officer M. Frolik, who discharged his duty weapon, was not injured in this incident.  He is assigned to the Westside Patrol Division and was sworn in as an officer in August 2016.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H. Ruiz and Officers R. Gonzalez and N. Krupa reported:

Officer Frolik and his partner responded to a suspicious person with a weapon call at 11655 Briar Forest Drive. As  they cleared the call and began traveling down the 2100 block of Bentworth, they observed a male fitting the description of the suspect.  The officers pulled over and attempted to speak with the suspect, at which point he pulled a pistol from his clothing and fired at the officers.  Officer Frolik returned fire, discharging his weapon more than one time.  The suspect fled the location and remains at-large.  

As is customary in officer-involved shootings within the city limits, this incident is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions.
