Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 780 West Rittenhouse


October 24, 2017 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 780 West Rittenhouse about 2:15 p.m. on September 26.  

The suspect, Derrick McCray (b/m, 34), is charged with murder in the 339th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of  Albert Thompson, 38, of Houston.  

A photo of suspect McCray, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants B. Chebret and R. Rodriguez reported:  

Mr. Thompson and two other males were sitting in a vacant lot at the above address when McCray approached on foot and shot Thompson several times.  Thompson was transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  

Further investigation and witness statements identified McCray as the suspect in this case and he was subsequently charged.
