Update: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 9437 Merle Street


October 26, 2017 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 9437 Merle Street about 8:30 p.m. on September 22.
 
The suspect, Jamie Amaad West (b/m, 32), is charged with murder in the 209thState District Court.  A previous photo of West, who remains at large, is attached to this news release. 
 
The victim, Derrick D. Moore, 30, of Houston, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Dominguez, Officer B. Roberts and Detectives M. Watters II and M. Condon reported:

The victim was involved in an altercation with his neighbor over a vehicle parked in the street.  A short time after the altercation, Moore was shot by an unknown black male who fled the scene in a grey four-door sedan.

Further investigation led to the identification of West as the shooter in this case.  He is a known associate of the neighbor involved in the initial argument.  He was last seen driving a brown four-door Toyota Corolla with Texas license plates JMB7099.
