Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6500 Katy Freeway


September 5, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 6500 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 2:25 p.m. on Monday (Sept. 4).

The identity of the deceased male victim, 40, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Officer M. Tamez reported:

The victim was driving a white Ford F-650 and pulling a trailer westbound on the Katy Freeway when the truck veered to the right and struck a retaining wall.  The victim, not believed to be wearing a seat belt,  was ejected from the truck.  The truck and trailer then veered back into the main lanes, struck a gray Infiniti G37 sedan and then struck a second retaining wall before coming to a stop.  The driver of the Infiniti was not injured. 

The investigation is continuing.
