  BARC Mega-Adoption Event, June 29

  
  

  Grab your grass skirt and hula on over to our second annual Bow Wow Meow Luau Mega Adoption Event at CITYCENTRE just under Studio Movie Grill on Saturday, June 29th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. We will have tons of dogs, puppies, cats and kittens in all different shapes and sizes available for adoption.

  Mayor Parker gets some help filling the bags she will leave out for local postal carriers to pickup this Saturday for their annual Stamp Out Hunger Food drive.

  Houston Homeless Registry Week

  
  

  Join your neighbors as they fan out across the city to find and survey the most vulnerable homeless people on the streets. The data gathered through this effort will give local community groups critical information that will help them catalyze systems change and begin housing members of Houston's homeless population quickly.

  Local No Texting While Driving Campaign

  
  

  Mayor Annise Parker utilized the start of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month to kick off It Can Wait, Houston, a local anti-texting while driving public awareness campaign. The mayor’s campaign will utilize social media, broad-based community activism and broadcast media to get its message out.

  Post Oak Rapid Transit and Memorial Park Reforesting

  
  

  Mayor Annise Parker today announced details of a plan that will provide funding for Memorial Park improvements and construction of a mass transit corridor on Post Oak Boulevard. The plan relies on City Council approval of the extension of the boundaries of the Uptown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #16, which currently encompasses the Galleria and surrounding area.

  New Convention Center Hotel Agreement

  
  

  Coming in Spring 2016! Houston's new convention center hotel, the agreement for which was announced in the City Hall Rotunda on April 9.

  Keep Houston Beautiful Day was held on Saturday, April 6. This year, KHB worked with the Texas Department of Transportation's "Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off" campaign, The Office of Congressman Gene Green, City Council District D, City Council Distict K, and the OST/South Union GO Neighborhoods.
