Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 3600 Liberty Road

October 15, 2018 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 3600 Liberty Road about 10:40 p.m. last Friday (October 12).

The suspect, Steven Taylor (b/m, 47), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 185th State District Court.  A booking photo of Taylor is not available at this time, as his remains hospitalized.

The identity of the deceased male victim, 45, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Gonzales and Officer M. Nicotra reported:

A total of seven vehicles were involved in the crash. 

Taylor was driving a white Ford F-150 pickup truck at a high rate of speed westbound on Liberty Road when he struck a white Lincoln Towncar, a black Dodge Caravan and a third vehicle, all in the westbound lanes waiting at a red light at the Bringhurst intersection. 

The crash caused the Lincoln to go into the eastbound lanes, where it struck a fifth vehicle traveling eastbound on Liberty Road.  The third vehicle (above) also crossed into the eastbound lanes, where it struck a sixth vehicle traveling east on Liberty Road.  A seventh vehicle was also eventually struck.

Paramedics pronounced the male passenger, 45, in Taylor's truck, deceased at the scene.  Taylor and two other persons were transported to area hospitals.      

Taylor was determined to be intoxicated and was subsequently charged.  The investigation is continuing.
