Experiencing High Volume of Junk Waste and Tree Waste Houston Residents are asked to Follow Collection Schedule below to Avoid Further Delays

Wednesday, November 24, 2021: The City of Houston Department of Solid Waste Management experienced higher than anticipated amounts of junk waste placed at the curb last month. As a result, city crews and contractors are running approximately two weeks behind schedule. The department is working to bring in additional resources to assist with collections as crews continue to collect tree waste.

The city rotates between junk waste and tree waste collections monthly with November being tree waste month and December being junk waste month.

    • Residents who receive 3rd and 4th week tree waste collections are asked to HOLD their debris
    • During the month of December, residents with 3rd and 4th week collections will receive simultaneous tree and junk waste services

Junk waste and tree waste are also accepted at the Department’s Neighborhood Depository and Recycling Centers. All Neighborhood Depositories hours of operations are being extended to 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Tuesday – Sunday.
