We Need Your Help to Give Houston’s Pets a Second Chance
As Houston’s municipal shelter, our allotted budget covers the bare minimum for pet care and placement. In fact, we operate with one of the smallest animal care budgets in Texas! That’s why we rely on the compassion of our community. Every day, we need support to make sure pets and the staff who care for them have what they need. Animals in shelter environments need nutritious food, comfort, and enrichment to manage stress and stay healthy while they wait for adopters, fosters, or rescues. Our selfless fosters also depend on donations from the community to stock our Foster Pantry. Whether it’s volunteering your time, making a donation, or dropping off supplies, your help goes directly toward saving lives.

Shelter & Daily Animal Care Needs
One of the easiest ways to support BARC is by sending much-needed supplies directly to the shelter. Our Amazon Wish Lists are filled with everyday items that help us care for hundreds of pets—everything from food and toys to cleaning supplies and enrichment tools.
