Request for Proposals: Washington Avenue Parking Benefit District Bike Rack

Project Scope
The Administration and Regulatory Affairs Department (ARA) is requesting proposals to design bike racks to enhance the Washington Avenue Corridor. The project is sponsored by the Washington Avenue Parking Benefit District Advisory Committee and the project budget is funded out of the parking meter revenues from the Corridor.

The Washington Avenue Corridor Parking Benefit District (PBD) is a defined geographic area in which a portion of the meter revenue is returned to the district to finance improvements that enhance the quality of life and promote walking, cycling, and the use of public transportation.

The area included in the Washington Avenue Corridor Parking Benefit District is bounded by Houston Avenue, Center Boulevard, Lillian Street/Decatur Street and Westcott Street.

PBD Permits

Occupants of the Washington Avenue Corridor Parking Benefit District (PBD) may submit an application to purchase one permit for the designated PBD Permit Parking areas. One permit may be purchased per property address and they are valid for one year. Permits will be required to park in the designated PBD permit areas beginning May 1, 2013. The times for permit parking are Thursday – Sunday, 6pm – 2am. A list of the permit parking areas is included at the link below (.pdf).

Advisory Committee

The advisory committee is appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council. It is comprised of seven representatives from the business and residential community and five non-voting city department directors. The committee is charged with developing a project list based on feedback received from public meetings.

The committee meets on the second Tuesdays at 6:30 at the West-end Multi-Service Center, 170 Heights Blvd. Houston, TX 77007.
