Human Resources is led by Omar Reid, an executive with more than two decades of leadership experience in the public and private sectors. As director of HR, Reid helms a staff of 116 and has a “people come first” philosophy. Vegetable gardens at city hall

 

The next time you pass by City Hall, you may notice an unusual smell…rosemary, sage, and oregano. With help from the City's Sustainability Office, the Houston Department of Public Works is now maintaining a vegetable garden on Walker Street. Holiday Ordinance Amendment for Muncipal Employees

 

Important information on changes to holiday pay for municipal employees
On Wednesday, July 7, 2010, the Mayor and City Council authorized an amendment to the holiday benefit for municipal employees. This amendment to the Oct. 2009 ordinance allows more flexibility for employees and supervisors in the case where a city-observed holiday falls on your regular day off.  read more
